A renovation company built on craft, not catalogues
Batecs grew out of a trade learned on site, at the foot of the scaffolding, over more than 35 years. We are not a brand that subcontracts everything and slaps its logo on the hoarding: we are the people who walk into your home, build the partition walls, run the services and finish the joints. That difference — it sounds small — changes everything the moment something unexpected comes up and someone has to take responsibility.
Over the years we have renovated old flats in central Valencia, villas in La Eliana and the Camp de Túria, and most things in between: kitchens, bathrooms, full home renovations, houses handed over turnkey and, on the odd empty plot, a house built from nothing. Every project has taught us the same lesson: a renovation does not go wrong because of one badly fitted unit, but because of poor coordination between trades and quotes that start cheap and end up expensive. That is why we built Batecs to treat clients the way we would have wanted to be treated ourselves.
Our own team: why it pays to renovate with the people who do the work
Far too often the industry runs on a chain of subcontractors: the plumber has never met the tiler, the kitchen fitter turns up when the job is already behind, and nobody owns the whole. At Batecs we do it the other way round. We work with our own in-house team and a single site manager who plans the phases, coordinates the trades and stays accountable to you from start to finish. You deal with one point of contact, not a string of phone numbers that nobody answers.
Renovating with the people who actually carry out the work has one very concrete advantage: responsibility is never diluted. If something needs adjusting after handover, we sort it out ourselves, without passing you on to third parties or hunting for someone to blame. It is the foundation of trust, and it is why so much of our work still arrives through a recommendation from a previous client.
Local presence and knowledge of the area
Knowing the ground matters too. We understand how Valencia’s older flats are built — their services, their floor slabs, their damp problems — and how the villas of the Camp de Túria are put together, with their terraces, concrete pools and outdoor spaces. That local knowledge lets us anticipate problems before we start and give you realistic timescales, rather than the ones you would like to hear.
Our office and our yard are in La Eliana, not on an industrial estate an hour away, which is why a site visit here is a short drive rather than a diary negotiation. Working the same few valleys for 35 years also buys the kind of knowledge you cannot look up: which town halls expect a building licence (licencia de obra) and which will take a responsible declaration (declaración responsable) for smaller work, which urbanisations have barriers, weight limits or a bend that decides how a lorry of tiles gets in, and which suppliers turn up on the day they promised. If your house is in La Eliana, it is our town as well as yours.
The line that matters
The company that quotes is the company that builds
Sooner or later every owner asks the same question, usually after signing: who is actually going to turn up at my house? In this trade the honest answer is often that nobody knows yet. A firm takes the job first and goes looking for the trades afterwards, adding its margin on the way. None of that is illegal. It just means that when something goes wrong on a Tuesday afternoon, the person you have been dealing with has to ring somebody else too.
Batecs works the other way round. The bricklayers are ours, the site manager is ours, and the yard is in La Eliana where anyone can come and find us. The invoice comes from the company that did the work, and if a detail needs looking at two winters later, the same firm answers the phone.
That is what we mean by a Spanish building company rather than an agent: no chain, no margin stacked on somebody else’s margin, and nobody left to point at. It is also why we are as comfortable doing one room at a time as we are running a whole house, and why our interior design is drawn by the people who will then have to build it.

The language side of it
What working with us in English actually means
We are a Spanish company and the paperwork is issued in Spanish, because that is the language it is written in. What changes is that you are never on the wrong side of it.
- One English-speaking point of contact. The site manager running your job is the person you ring, and the person who tells you what happened on site today. Not a switchboard, and not a different name every fortnight.
- A quote that is a document, not a number. Each trade costed on its own, gone through with you in English before anything is signed, and with whatever falls outside the price stated plainly rather than left for you to discover.
- The town hall dealt with by us. Whether the job needs a building licence or only a responsible declaration, we work out which, prepare the file, submit it and tell you in plain terms what it means for your start date. You never queue and you never translate a form.
- Decisions put to you in writing. Materials, changes and anything we find behind a wall reach you in a language you follow, before they become a fact.
None of this makes the licence itself any less Spanish. A permit issued by a town hall here arrives in Spanish and stays in Spanish, and so does the contract. Our part is that you understand every line of both before your name goes anywhere near them.

What experience actually looks like on a building site
Experience is a word on every renovation website in Spain, so it is worth saying what it buys. It is not a certificate on a wall. It is having already met the thing that is about to go wrong.
It is knowing where the flat roof of an eighties villa in this area tends to give up first, that a chase cut in the wrong wall costs a week further down the line, that the tile you have fallen for is not held in stock anywhere in the country, and that the whole province empties out in August. None of that appears on a drawing. It is why a job planned by people who have built here for decades tends to finish when it said it would.
The other half of it is temperament. After 35 years nobody here needs to win an argument with an owner, and nobody needs to take on a job that is wrong for the house. We would rather tell you that half of what you are asking for is not worth the money, and do the other half properly.

We coordinate materials and trades and set a realistic schedule, so the job never stalls for want of forward planning.
Work carried out by our own team
Building work, services and finishes by our own staff, with a single site manager who coordinates everything and keeps you informed.
Quality control
We check finishes, joints, levels and services before we call anything done. Whatever does not measure up is redone.
Handover and aftercare
We hand the home back clean and ready to use. Under current Spanish law we answer for the work carried out and for the materials, and any later adjustment we sort out ourselves.

The team that walks into your home
Behind every Batecs renovation is a team of skilled tradespeople: bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, tilers and carpenters who have worked together for years and know how things are done here. It is not a workforce that changes from one job to the next; it is people we trust, who know their work carries our name.
Above the day-to-day there is always a site manager who coordinates the rest, keeps deadlines and quality on track, and is your single point of contact throughout the renovation. That is who you call when you have a question, and who explains, in plain language, what is going to be done and why. The role is what stops a renovation turning into a string of misunderstandings.
The trades will say good morning to you in Spanish, because Spanish is the language of a Spanish building site. What you never have to do is negotiate in it: that part belongs to the site manager, and you get it back in your own language.
We also believe in dealing with people honestly and directly. We would rather be the ones who talk you out of something than the ones who sell it to you and hope you do not notice later. If a wall is better left where it is, we will say so, and we would rather have a client who recommends us than a signature we had to push for.
