You have a villa in La Eliana or La Cañada with a bathroom from the eighties, a pool that has started to lose water, or a kitchen shut away from the rest of the house. What you do not have is an easy way to explain any of that to a Spanish builder, or a way to know whether the price you are quoted is the price you will pay.

Batecs is a Spanish building company based in La Eliana, with more than 35 years of finished work across Valencia and the Camp de Túria. We renovate whole houses, kitchens, bathrooms and villas, build new homes and concrete pools, and handle the interior design. What changes for you is that the site manager who runs the job, and the person who writes your quote, both speak English.

One team. One person responsible for the work. One price, agreed in writing before we start.

Before you commit

The three questions everyone asks us

Short answers here. The long ones have a page of their own.

01

Will the price change?

No. After the site visit you get an itemised written quote, and that is the figure you pay. Extras are priced and approved first.

How a fixed quote works →

02

Who deals with the town hall, and in what language?

We do. We prepare and submit what your town hall asks for, and we tell you in English what it says.

Who handles the paperwork →

03

Will you actually finish?

We have been on site in this area for 35 years, with our own team. The people who finish are the people who started.

01 Why Batecs

Why choose Batecs for your renovation

What sets a renovation company apart is not what it promises, but how it works. This is the difference, side by side.

The Batecs way

One team, one manager, one price

  • 35 years renovating houses, villas and commercial premises in Valencia and the Camp de Túria.
  • Our own in-house team: we carry out the work ourselves, we do not subcontract it.
  • A single site manager coordinates every trade and keeps you informed as the job moves.
  • A fixed written quote, broken down item by item, after the site visit.
  • 4.4 out of 5 on Google, from clients who come back and recommend us.
  • A reply within 24–48 hours and advice with no obligation.
What you usually find

Separate trades, nobody in charge

  • You chase each trade and no one takes responsibility for the whole job.
  • Work subcontracted to third parties who change from one week to the next.
  • Open-ended quotes that grow with “unforeseen extras” as the job goes on.
  • Timelines that drag on with no real planning behind them.
  • A conversation in fast Spanish on site, and a decision you did not know you were making.
  • Hard to put things right afterwards if something is wrong with the finish.

Not sure where to start? Most jobs begin as either a full home renovation or a partial renovation, and everything else sits inside one of the two. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, look at turnkey renovations.

The language question

Working with Batecs in English

We are a Spanish building company, and that is the point. English is not what we sell; it is how we run your job, so that nothing about your own house reaches you second-hand.

  • One point of contact — the same person from the site visit through to the day we hand back your keys. Not a call centre, and not a new name every week.
  • Your quote in English — itemised trade by trade and talked through with you line by line, so you know what is in it and what is not.
  • Paperwork explained — a building licence (licencia de obra) for major work, a responsible declaration (declaración responsable) for the rest. We prepare and submit what your town hall requires, and tell you in plain terms what it says.
  • Updates you can follow — progress, decisions and changes put to you in writing while the work is running, so nothing important gets settled on site in a conversation you cannot follow.

The official documents will still be in Spanish: a licence issued by a Spanish town hall always is. Our job is to make sure you know exactly what you are signing before you sign it.

03 The Batecs method

How we run your renovation, step by step

A clear, orderly process — the same for a kitchen as for a whole house.

01

Site visit

We look at the condition of the property, take measurements and listen to what you want to achieve, with no obligation.

02

Design and proposal

We define the layout, the finishes and the interior design, with a fixed price broken down item by item.

03

Planning

We coordinate materials and trades and set a realistic works schedule before we start.

04

Coordinated build

Building work, services and finishes carried out by our own team, with a single site manager who oversees all of it.

05

Quality control

We check the finishing, the joints, the levels and how every installation works before we hand over.

06

Handover

We hand the house back clean, finished and ready to use, with nothing left outstanding.

The company behind the work

A Spanish building company, not a middleman

In Spain, a good number of the people who will happily talk to you in your own language do not build anything. They find the trades, add a margin and pass the problems along. When something goes wrong on site, they are asking questions too.

Batecs does the work. Our own team on site, one site manager for the whole job, and more than 35 years of finished renovations behind us. There is nobody standing between you and the people in your house.

It is also why the price holds: we are not passing on somebody else’s invoice with a margin on top.

★★★★★Full renovation

They renovated the whole flat and delivered it within the timeline they gave us. The best part was always dealing with the same person and not having to chase each trade. The price they quoted was the price we paid.

They opened the kitchen up to the living room and it looks spectacular. They gave us great advice on materials and stuck to the days they had told us we’d be without a kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

Renovating in Valencia, answered

Which areas does Batecs work in?

We renovate in the city of Valencia, in La Eliana — where we are based — and across the Camp de Túria and l’Horta Nord: Paterna, Bétera, Godella, Llíria, Rocafort, Riba-roja de Túria, Moncada, Alboraya, Meliana, Puçol, Paiporta, La Cañada, San Antonio de Benagéber and La Pobla de Vallbona.

Do you use your own team, or do you subcontract the work?

We work with our own in-house team: we carry out the work ourselves and do not subcontract it to third parties. That is why we can commit to realistic timelines, to a fixed price that does not move as the job goes on, and to sorting out any later adjustment ourselves, without passing you on to anyone else.

Is the price fixed? Are there any surprises on the invoice?

Yes. You get a fixed written quote, broken down item by item, after the site visit. You know from day one what you will pay, with no “unforeseen extras” appearing halfway through. If you decide to add something once the work has started, it is priced and agreed in writing before anyone starts it.

How long does it take to get a quote?

After a first conversation we arrange a site visit to see the property and take measurements. You then get the quote within 24–48 hours. Both the visit and the quote are free and with no obligation.

Do you do small jobs, or only whole houses?

Both. We take on a full home renovation or a smaller, self-contained job — a kitchen, a bathroom, the floors, the painting — and we can phase it so you can stay in the house while we work. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you the sensible way to approach it.

Is it cheaper to renovate or to buy something already renovated?

It depends on what sits behind the finish. A house that looks renovated may still have its original wiring, plumbing, windows and layout, and those are the expensive things to put right — not the tiles. Look at the consumer unit, the water pressure, the windows and whether the layout actually works for how you live. If the bones are sound, renovating usually buys you a house that suits you for less than moving does. If they are not, the new kitchen is the cheapest part of what you are taking on. The only way to settle it is a real number: send us the house you are looking at and we will quote it.

The electrician never turned up. Is this normal?

It is common, and it is one of the things people complain about most when they hire trades one by one. It happens because nobody owns the schedule: every trade is running its own diary and your house is one entry in it. On our jobs the trades are ours and the schedule belongs to the site manager, so a missing trade is our problem to solve rather than yours to chase. If a day slips, you hear it from us before you notice it.
