The kitchen is the most-used room in the home and the one that shapes daily life the most. It is also the most technical room in the whole house: in just a few square metres you have plumbing, electrics, gas, extraction, water, units and appliances all coming together. That is why a kitchen renovation that looks «simple» so easily goes wrong when no one is coordinating the whole job. At Batecs we have spent more than 35 years renovating kitchens in Valencia, La Eliana and the Camp de Túria, and we know the problems rarely come from a badly fitted unit: they come from a lack of coordination between trades.
We work the opposite way to how the sector usually operates. Instead of you chasing the plumber, the electrician, the kitchen-unit supplier and the tiler —who never talk to each other— a single site manager plans the phases, coordinates every trade and keeps you informed. You decide the layout and the finishes; we make sure the kitchen is delivered when we said it would be, for the price we agreed, and with the fewest possible days without a working kitchen.
Whether you want to open the kitchen up to the living room, make the most of a small kitchen or renovate it completely with good materials, this is the service that brings it all together: design, services, units, worktop and a kitchen handed over ready to use. And if the work goes beyond the kitchen, take a look at our full home renovations too.
01 A complete service
What a kitchen renovation includes
A complete project, from strip-out to a kitchen that is ready to use —not a series of one-off fixes.

Layout and building work
We rearrange the kitchen —or open it up to the living room— to gain worktop space, storage and natural light, with full technical backing.

Bespoke units
Made-to-measure cabinetry and storage, with quality fittings and a design built around the way you actually cook.

Worktops and splashbacks
Quartz, Dekton, porcelain or granite: we choose the worktop and splashback to suit your use, cleaning and budget.

Full services
We renew the plumbing, electrics, extraction and the water and power points for a safe, comfortable kitchen that meets regulations.

Flooring and tiling
Hard-wearing, easy-to-maintain floors and wall finishes that sit comfortably with the rest of the home.

Lighting and details
Layers of light —ambient, task and accent— and the finishing touches that give the kitchen a quality feel.
Want to refurbish the bathroom at the same time? We have a dedicated page on bathroom renovations, and if the work covers the whole house, take a look at full home renovations. For something more contained, consider a partial renovation.
By layout
Kitchen layouts: L-shaped, U-shaped, island, peninsula or open-plan diner
There is no single perfect layout for every home: it depends on the square metres, on where the light comes in and on how you cook. These are the layouts that work best in homes across Valencia and the surrounding area, and when to choose each one.
L-shaped kitchen
The most versatile choice for flats: it makes use of two walls in a corner, leaves a good work triangle (sink, hob and fridge) and frees up space for a table. It works almost everywhere and is the starting point for most renovations.
U-shaped kitchen
Three runs of worktop and plenty of storage. Ideal if you cook every day and have the space, because everything is within reach. It needs a bit of width so the central passage is comfortable; in narrow kitchens it can feel cramped.
Island kitchen
The dream of many renovations: an island adds worktop, storage and a gathering point. It needs clear space all around (ideally 90-100 cm per side) and, if it has a hob or sink, water, drainage and electrics run out to it. It shines in open-plan kitchens and in villas.
Peninsula kitchen
The alternative to an island when space is tighter: a peninsula connects to the wall at one end, defines the kitchen area within an open space and works as a breakfast bar without needing clearance on all four sides.
Open-plan diner kitchen
Building an eating area into the kitchen itself —a table, a high bar— is one of the most requested features. It brings family life into the room and makes the most of every metre, especially when the kitchen opens onto the living room.
02 Your kitchen
Choose your scenario
Every kitchen starts from a different point. These are the most common scenarios in Valencia and the surrounding area; click the one that looks most like yours.

Small kitchen
Just a few square metres in a flat. The challenge: gaining storage and worktop space without it feeling cramped.

Kitchen open to the living room
You want to take down the wall and join the kitchen and living area. The challenge: the light, the cooking smells and the load-bearing wall.

L-shaped or U-shaped kitchen
A complete renovation of a closed kitchen. The challenge: optimising the work triangle and the storage.

Island kitchen
A spacious room or a villa. The challenge: running water, power and drainage to the island and leaving good clearance around it.
03 The big question
Can the kitchen be opened up to the living room?
By far the most common request we get. The short answer is almost always yes, but it depends on the wall. If the wall separating kitchen and living room is not load-bearing, opening it up is straightforward. If it is, it is not ruled out: it is replaced with a beam or lintel that takes the load, with the relevant structural calculation and the necessary paperwork.
Opening the kitchen up to the living room brings natural light from façade to façade, a sense of space and a living area where the family can be together while someone cooks. In exchange, two things need to be handled well: the extraction of cooking smells —with a good extractor hood— and noise and tidiness, which become more visible. That is why an island or peninsula that acts as a filter and good layered lighting are worth having.
During the site visit we check whether the wall is load-bearing and tell you honestly what opening it up means in your case, with no false promises. You can read more about this in the section on permits, further down.
04 Investment
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Valencia
No two kitchens are the same, but there are market ranges that help you get your bearings before requesting a quote. These are indicative: we set the real price after the site visit.
| Renovation tier | Indicative price | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Entry-level (facelift) | ≈ €6,000-10,000 | Standard units, a compact or laminate worktop, basic appliances and simple tiling, without changing the layout. |
| Mid-range | ≈ €10,000-18,000 | Bespoke units, a quartz or porcelain worktop, good appliances, new flooring and tiling and renewed services. |
| Premium / opening up to the living room | ≈ €18,000-30,000+ | A new layout or opening up to the living room, an island, a premium worktop (Dekton/porcelain), high-end appliances and designer lighting. |
Indicative market ranges in Valencia for 2026, for a medium-sized kitchen (around 8-12 m²), as a reference only. They do not constitute a quote or an offer. The real cost depends on your kitchen, the square metres and the finishes you choose.
What drives the price
The price depends above all on the square metres, on whether the layout is changed or the kitchen is opened up to the living room, on the level of the units and worktop, on the appliances you choose and on the extent of the services (plumbing and electrics). Renewing only the splashbacks and worktop is not the same starting point as a full renovation.
That is why we prefer to give you a fixed price after the site visit, with itemised costs, rather than a «catalogue» price that later does not match your kitchen. That way you know from day one exactly how much you are going to pay.
Making the most of your budget
How to save on your kitchen without giving up what matters
Saving on a kitchen is not about choosing the cheapest of everything: it is about knowing where to invest and where to hold back. After 35 years, this is what we tend to recommend to anyone on a tight budget who does not want to regret it later.
Do not cut corners on what you can’t see or on what takes the most wear. The plumbing, the electrics and the worktop are the «invisible structure» of the kitchen. A cheap worktop stains, scratches and swells with water; replacing it means dismantling units you have already paid for. It is the most expensive mistake in the medium term.
You can flex on splashbacks and appliances. These days there are splashbacks and units with excellent value for money, and you can always start with decent appliances and save a treat —a higher-spec induction hob, an oven-and-microwave tower— for later.
Keeping the layout saves a lot. If you keep the water and drainage connections where they are, you save on plumbing work. Moving the sink or the hob to the other end pushes the cost up; sometimes it is worth it, but it pays to know before you decide.

05 The Batecs method
How we manage your kitchen renovation
A clear, orderly process, designed to keep the days without a working kitchen to a minimum.
Visit and measure-up
We assess the state of the kitchen, take measurements and listen to how you use it, with no obligation.
Design and proposal
We define the layout, the finishes and an indicative render, with a fixed price itemised by element.
Planning
We coordinate units, worktop, appliances and trades to keep the days without a kitchen to a minimum.
Coordinated build
Building work, services, tiling and the fitting of units and worktop, with our own team and a single site manager.
Quality control
We check the finishes, the joints, the levelling and that every water and power point works.
Handover
We hand over the kitchen clean, connected and ready to use, with nothing left outstanding.
The aim of all this coordination is one thing: that the kitchen is out of action for as few days as possible. That is why we order the units and the worktop in advance and do not start the strip-out until everything is ready.
06 The decision
Open-plan kitchen vs. closed kitchen
Neither is better than the other: it depends on how you live. Here is what each option gains and gives up.
More light and shared living
- Gains natural light and a sense of space.
- You’re with the family while you cook.
- An island or peninsula adds worktop and a diner.
- Needs a good hood for cooking smells.
- Tidiness and noise are more on show.
More privacy and order
- Keeps odours, smells and noise out of the rest of the home.
- You can «shut the door» and leave it half-done.
- More usable wall for units and storage.
- Often more efficient in a small space.
- Takes light and connection away from the living area.
And island or peninsula? The island adds more worktop and is the heart of the kitchen, but it needs clear space around it and, if it has water or a hob, services run out to it. The peninsula offers almost the same advantages while taking up less room, and it is the smart choice when space is tight.
07 Real projects
Kitchen renovation projects
A sample of the kind of kitchens we renovate completely in Valencia and the Camp de Túria.

Classic white L-shaped kitchen
A complete renovation of a closed kitchen in a flat in the Eixample district: white Shaker-style units, a quartz worktop, integrated appliances and new tiling. We kept the water connections in place to keep the budget down and gained floor-to-ceiling storage.

Modern handleless kitchen
A kitchen with clean lines and handleless push-open units, a large-format porcelain worktop and under-cabinet lighting. We fully renewed the plumbing and electrics and resolved the extraction for a quiet, easy-to-clean kitchen.

Island kitchen open to the living room
We opened up the kitchen onto the living room of a villa by removing the wall and designing an island with a sink and a bar area. We ran water, drainage and electrics out to the island, fitted a powerful ceiling hood and matched the flooring with the living area.
You can see more completed work in our gallery of projects, alongside bathroom, villa and full home renovations.
08 Finishes
Materials: worktops, splashbacks, floors and lighting
We advise you so that every material brings something —not just looks, but also durability and easy maintenance.

Worktops
Quartz (uniform and easy to live with), Dekton and porcelain (highly resistant to heat and scratching) or granite (natural and long-lasting), to suit your use and budget.

Floors
Porcelain, high-resistance vinyl or water-resistant laminate: resistant to water and stains and easy to maintain.

Microcement
A seamless, continuous finish for floors and splashbacks, with a contemporary look. Well applied and well sealed, it performs beautifully.

Splashbacks and wall finishes
From classic tiles to a seamless large-format porcelain splashback that flows on from the worktop and wipes clean easily.

Units and finishes
Lacquered, wood or high-quality melamine fronts, with soft-close fittings and corner solutions that make use of every nook.

Layered lighting
Ambient light, task light under the wall units and accent light: so you can cook well and the kitchen looks good at any time of day.
What we also take care of
Appliances, extraction and permits
A kitchen doesn’t end with the units. We also coordinate the appliances —induction hob, oven, hood, dishwasher, fridge— so they fit their openings to the millimetre and are handed over installed and working. If you buy them yourself, you pass us the measurements and we leave everything provided for.
The extraction of cooking smells is key, especially in open-plan kitchens: we choose the right hood and outlet so that odours don’t linger in the home. As for permits, a kitchen renovation that doesn’t touch the layout or the façade can usually be handled with a responsible declaration or works notification; if the wall is opened up to the living room or the gas installation is changed, more paperwork may be required. We’ll guide you and handle it.
You’ll see this too in our painting and interior design work, where we make sure the kitchen speaks to the rest of the home.
09 Before you start
Mistakes worth avoiding when renovating the kitchen
- Starting the strip-out before the units and worktop have been ordered and measured.
- Saving on the worktop or on the services that later end up hidden.
- Neglecting the extraction of cooking smells, especially if the kitchen opens onto the living room.
- Forgetting to fit enough sockets, well distributed across the work area.
- Moving the sink or the hob without weighing up the extra plumbing cost.
- Choosing a floor that isn’t resistant enough to water and stains.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions about kitchen renovations
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Valencia?
As an indicative market reference, a medium-sized kitchen usually falls between ≈€6,000-10,000 for an entry-level renovation and €18,000-30,000 or more at the premium end, with the kitchen opened up to the living room, an island and premium materials. It depends on the square metres, the layout, the units and worktop and the extent of the services. After the site visit we give you a fixed, itemised quote, with no vague costs.
How long does a kitchen renovation take, and how many days will I be without one?
A kitchen renovation usually takes between 2 and 6 weeks depending on the scope. We plan the units, worktop and trades to keep the days without a kitchen to a minimum: we only start the strip-out once the units and worktop are ready to fit.
Can you open the kitchen up to the living room? And if the wall is load-bearing?
Yes, almost always. If the wall is not load-bearing, opening it up is straightforward. If it is, we replace it with a beam or lintel that takes the load, with the structural calculation and the necessary paperwork. During the visit we check what kind of wall you have and tell you honestly what opening it up involves.
Which worktop suits me best: quartz, Dekton, porcelain or granite?
It depends on the use and the maintenance you want. Quartz is uniform and easy to look after; Dekton and porcelain are highly resistant to heat and scratching; granite is natural and very durable. We advise you based on how you cook and your budget so you get it right first time.
Island or peninsula?
The island adds more worktop and is the heart of the kitchen, but it needs clear space around it (ideally 90-100 cm per side) and, if it has water or a hob, services run out to it. The peninsula offers almost the same advantages while taking up less room, and it is the best option when space is tight.
Do you also take care of the units and the appliances?
Yes. We coordinate the bespoke cabinetry, the worktop and the appliances so that everything fits to the millimetre and is handed over installed and working. If you prefer to buy the appliances yourself, you pass us the measurements and we leave everything provided for.
Which floor is best for the kitchen?
The ones that hold up best are porcelain, high-resistance vinyl and water-resistant laminate: they resist water, stains and wear, and clean easily. Microcement also works very well if it is applied and sealed correctly. We choose it so it sits comfortably with the rest of the home.
Do I need a permit to renovate the kitchen?
A kitchen renovation that doesn’t touch the layout or the façade can usually be handled with a responsible declaration or a works notification, depending on the town. If the wall is opened up to the living room or the gas installation is changed, more paperwork may be required. We advise you and handle the necessary documentation so the work is fully compliant.
How can I save without giving up quality?
Don’t cut corners on the worktop or on the hidden services, where a poorly made saving turns out expensive. You can flex on splashbacks and appliances, and keeping the water connections where they are saves on plumbing work. We help you decide where to invest and where to hold back.
What guarantee does the kitchen renovation carry?
We stand behind the work carried out and the materials in line with current regulations. On top of that, because we are an in-house team, any later adjustment is sorted out by us directly, without passing you on to third parties.
Do you renovate only the kitchen or the rest of the home too?
We do both. We can renovate just the kitchen or fold it into a full renovation of the whole home. Many clients take the opportunity to renovate the kitchen and bathroom at the same time and save on call-outs and on coordinating the trades.
Which areas do you carry out kitchen renovations in?
In the city of Valencia, La Eliana and every town across the Camp de Túria and l’Horta Nord: Paterna, Bétera, Godella, Llíria, Rocafort, Riba-roja, San Antonio de Benagéber, La Cañada and the surrounding area.
In short
A kitchen renovation in Valencia renews the whole room —layout, units, worktop, appliances, services, floors and lighting— under a single site manager and with a fixed price. At Batecs we carry it out with our own in-house team, open it up to the living room if you need, and hand it over ready to use, with the fewest possible days without a kitchen.
As an indicative market reference, a medium-sized kitchen usually falls between ≈€6,000-10,000 (entry level) and €18,000-30,000 (premium, with the kitchen opened up to the living room and an island). The real price for your kitchen is set after the site visit, with no surprises.
