Partial renovations in Valencia: renovate only what you need
Not every home needs a full renovation. We refurbish a single room or a specific job —kitchen, bathroom, floors, painting, windows or façade— with the same in-house team, a fixed written quote and minimal disruption, across Valencia, La Eliana and the whole Camp de Túria.

Not every home needs to be gutted from top to bottom. Sometimes what a property really needs is something contained: replacing floors that are past their best, making a bathroom usable for another twenty years, painting the whole house in one go, or swapping out windows that let in the cold and the noise. That is a partial renovation: a focused intervention on a single room or job, leaving the rest of the home untouched. At Batecs we have spent more than 35 years carrying out partial renovations across Valencia, La Eliana and the Camp de Túria, with the same rigour as a full renovation.
The most common mistake with a partial job is hiring piecemeal —the flooring fitter on one side, the painter on another, the window company on its own— and ending up coordinating the works yourself, with no time and no idea who is responsible for what. We work the other way round: a single project lead plans the intervention, sequences the trades in the right order and hands you the finished area for the price we agreed, with the fewest possible days of works in your home.
And we are honest about scope: if, during the site visit, we can see that fixing things separately will cost you more than doing it all at once, we tell you and weigh up a full renovation with you. A partial renovation should save you money, not chain you to overlapping works.
01 What it is and when it makes sense
What a partial renovation is and what it covers
We refurbish one area or one specific job in your home, done properly and with no unnecessary works —not half a full renovation done in pieces.

New flooring
We replace your flooring with porcelain, vinyl or laminate, either lifting the old floor or laying over it where that works.

Painting and skimming
We paint the whole home, remove textured finishes and skim walls smooth for a clean look that transforms the place.

Windows and joinery
We replace windows with PVC, aluminium or timber with thermal break, for better heat and sound insulation.

A single room
We renovate just the bathroom, kitchen, living room or a bedroom, with a finish that sits well with the rest of the home.

Targeted services
We renew outdated runs of plumbing or wiring without having to open up and redo the entire home.

Damp and defects
We treat damp, cracks and minor defects locally, before the problem has a chance to spread.
Does the job go beyond a single area? We have dedicated pages for kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations and painting and interior design. And if it affects the whole house, take a look at our full renovations.
By type of job
Types of partial renovation: kitchen, bathroom, floors, painting and more
Each job has its own timing, sequence and quirks. These are the partial renovations we are asked for most across Valencia and the surrounding area, and what is worth knowing about each one before you start.
Partial kitchen renovation
Updating the kitchen without touching the rest of the house is one of the most common partial jobs. If you keep the water supply and waste connections where they are, you save on plumbing work and bring the cost down. When the job grows —opening up to the living room, moving the sink— it becomes a full project: you can see that in our kitchen renovations.
Partial bathroom renovation
The classic bath-to-shower conversion, or renovating the whole bathroom while keeping the layout. It is a contained but technical job: waterproofing and ventilation need real care to avoid bringing on damp. To see the full scope, take a look at our bathroom renovations.
New flooring
Replacing the floor refreshes a home like few other things. You can either lift the old floor or, if it is sound and level, lay laminate or vinyl over it to save on rubble and days of works. The key lies in resolving the skirting boards and the transitions at doorways properly.
Whole-home repainting
Painting the whole house in one go —with wall skimming and removal of textured finishes where needed— is the partial job with the best change-for-your-money ratio. It is best done with the house as empty as possible, finishing cornices, frames and corners cleanly, because that is where the craft shows.
New windows and living room
Replacing windows with thermal-break joinery and double glazing improves comfort and lowers your bills, and is usually done in just a few days. And a partial renovation of the living room —flooring, painting, layered lighting and sometimes a bespoke unit— transforms your day-to-day space without major works.
Façade and exteriors
In villas and houses, working on the façade alone —painting, crack treatment, waterproofing or external insulation— heads off damp problems and improves efficiency without touching the inside. It is a very worthwhile partial job when the problem is outside, not in.
02 Your project
Find your situation
Every partial renovation starts from a different need. These are the most common situations across Valencia and the surrounding area; tap the one that looks most like yours.

Just the kitchen
Updating the kitchen without touching the rest of the house. The challenge: keeping the cost down by leaving the services where they are.

Just the bathroom
Converting a bath to a shower or renovating the whole bathroom. The challenge: waterproofing properly and sorting out ventilation.

Floors and painting
Giving your home a fresh face with new flooring and paint. The challenge: finishing skirting, joints and corners with real craft.

Façade or exterior
A villa or house with problems outside, not in. The challenge: treating cracks, waterproofing and improving insulation.
03 The big question
Is it worth renovating in stages?
When the budget will not stretch to everything, renovating in stages is a very sensible alternative: you do the priorities now —what is broken or what you use most— and leave the rest for later, without having to undo what is already done. It is, in essence, a series of partial renovations with a plan behind them.
The key lies in planning the right order. If you are going to change the floors and the plumbing too, do the plumbing first; if you are going to paint and skim, do it before laying the new floor. Doing it the other way round forces you to lift or protect what you have already paid for. That is why it helps to have a single lead who sees the full picture from the start, even if the works are spread out over time.
At the site visit we help you prioritise: what to do now, what can safely wait and how to sequence the stages so you do not repeat works. You will see this in more detail in the pricing section, where you have a guide figure for each type of job.
04 Investment
How much a partial renovation costs in Valencia
No two homes are the same, but there are market ranges by type of job that help you get your bearings before requesting a quote. These are indicative: we set the real price after the site visit.
| Job | Indicative price | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Whole-home repainting | ≈ €1,500-3,000 | Painting the whole house (around 90 m²), wall preparation and protection of floors and furniture. Skimming or removing textured finishes adds to the cost. |
| New flooring throughout the home | ≈ €30-70/m² | Materials and labour (porcelain, vinyl or laminate). Lifting and removing the old floor adds cost compared with laying over it. |
| Window replacement | ≈ €350-700/unit | New window (PVC or aluminium with thermal break), removal, fitting and finishing, per unit and depending on size. |
| Bathroom renovation | ≈ €4,000-9,000 | Sanitaryware, wall and floor tiling, shower screen, vanity unit and taps, with renewed bathroom plumbing and wiring. |
| Kitchen renovation | ≈ €6,000-15,000 | Units, worktop, appliances, flooring, tiling and services, keeping the layout to keep the cost in check. |
| Living room renovation | ≈ €3,000-8,000 | Flooring, painting and layered lighting, with the option of a bespoke unit or a decorative wall finish. |
Indicative market ranges in Valencia for 2026, as a guide only. They are not a quote or an offer. The real cost depends on the size, the starting condition and the finishes you choose.
What affects the price
The price depends above all on the starting condition (the older and more worn, the more prep work), on whether the old finishes need removing or you can work over them, on the level of finishes you choose, and on whether the job touches hidden services (plumbing, wiring) or just the surfaces.
That is why we prefer to give you a fixed quote after the site visit, with each item itemised, rather than a «catalogue» price that does not then match your home. That way you know from day one exactly what you will pay.
Getting the most from your budget
How to prioritise a partial renovation on a tight budget
A well-planned partial renovation is not about «doing the cheapest thing»: it is about choosing wisely what to tackle now so your money goes furthest. After 35 years, this is what we tend to recommend to anyone who wants to spread the investment.
First, what is failing or what holds the rest together. A leak, a worn-out service, active damp or windows letting in water come before any finish. Painting a damp wall without treating the cause is throwing money away: within a few months it comes back.
Don’t cut corners on what ends up hidden. If you open up to change a run of plumbing or wiring, do it properly: redoing it later forces you to lift floors and tiling you have already paid for. It is the most expensive mistake in the medium term, in a partial job too.
Group together what shares a trade and an area. If you are going to paint and change the floor, do them back to back so you don’t protect twice or repeat cleaning. And if one partial renovation keeps leading to another until it covers almost the whole house, a full renovation sometimes works out better value: we tell you with the numbers at the site visit.

05 The Batecs method
How we handle your partial renovation
A clear, ordered process, designed to keep the days of works in your home to a minimum.
Visit and advice
We assess the condition of the area, listen to what you want to achieve and tell you frankly what is worth doing.
Proposal and quote
We define scope and finishes with a fixed quote, itemised in detail, with no surprises.
Planning
We coordinate materials and trades and, if you are renovating in stages, set the right order for each job.
Coordinated works
We carry out the works with our in-house team, sequencing the trades under a single project lead.
Quality control
We check finishes, joints and that everything works before signing off the area as complete.
Handover
We hand the area back clean, checked and ready to use, with the fewest possible days of disruption.
In most partial renovations you can carry on living in your home: we organise the works by area and by hours so the disruption is as small as possible.
06 The decision
Partial or full renovation: how to decide and get it right
Neither is better than the other: it depends on how many problems are piling up. Here is what each one brings.
Renovate just enough, spend less
- A contained job: one room or one specific item.
- Less investment and fewer days of works.
- You can usually carry on living in your home.
- Ideal for renovating in stages with a plan.
- The right choice when the rest of the home is sound.
Renovate everything in one go
- Renews layout, services and finishes.
- More investment, but a single coherent whole.
- Worth it when the problems pile up.
- The best moment to improve efficiency.
- Usually means moving out during the works.
The practical rule: if it is something specific (a bathroom, the floors, the painting), go partial; if the problems pile up —layout, services, several spaces— and fixing them separately costs more, take a look at our full renovations. At the site visit we advise you frankly, even if the scope turns out smaller than you expected.
07 Real projects
Partial renovation projects
A taste of the kind of contained work we do across Valencia and the Camp de Túria.

Just the kitchen, leaving the house untouched
Renovation of an enclosed kitchen in a flat in the Eixample, keeping the water connections to fit the budget: white units, quartz worktop, new tiling and storage up to the ceiling. The rest of the home was left intact and the family carried on living there.

Bath-to-shower conversion
Bath replaced with a flush shower tray, glass screen, wall-hung basin and large-format dark tiling. We reinforced the waterproofing and sorted out the ventilation to prevent damp, without touching the rest of the bathroom or the home.

Renovated villa façade
Work on the exterior of a villa only: crack treatment, natural stone cladding and waterproofing, without going inside the home. A very worthwhile partial job when the problem is outside, adding both kerb appeal and protection against damp.
You can see more finished work in our gallery of projects, alongside kitchen, bathroom and whole-home renovations.
08 Finishes
Materials and finishes
We advise you so that every material brings something —not just looks, but durability and low maintenance too.

Flooring
Porcelain, high-resistance vinyl or water-resistant laminate: tough against water and wear, easy to maintain and quick to fit.

Painting
Washable emulsion, water-based enamel or mineral paint depending on the room, with skimming beforehand where needed for a clean finish.

Windows
PVC, aluminium with thermal break or timber, with double glazing to insulate better against the cold, the heat and the noise.

Bathroom
Flush shower tray, made-to-measure screen, wall-hung sanitaryware and thermostatic taps, with proper waterproofing.

Microcement
A seamless, joint-free finish for floors and walls, with a contemporary look. Well applied and sealed, it performs beautifully.

Façade
Exterior paint, crack treatment, waterproofing and external insulation (ETICS) where it makes sense.
What else we take care of
Do I need a permit for a partial renovation?
It depends on what you touch. A partial renovation that does not affect the structure, the layout or the façade —painting, changing floors, renovating a bathroom while keeping the layout— is usually handled with a responsible declaration or notice of works, depending on the municipality.
When the job affects the façade (changing windows that face outwards, cladding or painting the front) or communal elements in a block, it may call for more paperwork and even permission from the residents’ association. This is for guidance only: it is best confirmed with the relevant town hall, and we advise you and handle the documentation needed to keep the works above board.
You will also see this in our painting and interior design work, where we make sure every intervention talks to the rest of the home.
09 Before you start
Mistakes worth avoiding in a partial renovation
- Hiring each trade separately, with no one to coordinate the order of the works.
- Painting or tiling over damp without treating the cause first.
- Renovating in stages with no plan, and ending up undoing what is already done.
- Cutting corners on services that end up hidden, then paying double to redo them.
- Forgetting waterproofing and ventilation when renovating a bathroom.
- Stringing together partial jobs that, added up, would have been cheaper as a full renovation.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about partial renovations
What counts as a partial renovation?
Any work that renews part of the home —a room (kitchen, bathroom, living room, a bedroom) or a specific job (floors, painting, windows, a service)— without covering the whole house. It differs from a full renovation in that the scope is contained and, normally, you can carry on living in your home during the works.
How much does a partial renovation cost in Valencia?
It depends on the job. As an indicative market guide: painting a home of around 90 m² is roughly €1,500-3,000; changing the floor, €30-70/m² for materials and labour; replacing windows, €350-700 per unit; renovating a bathroom, €4,000-9,000; and a kitchen, €6,000-15,000. We set the real price after the site visit, with a fixed, itemised quote.
Can I live at home during the partial renovation?
In most cases, yes. As it is a contained job, we organise the works by area and by hours so the disruption is as small as possible. With a single-bathroom renovation or painting, for example, living there is perfectly workable; only with jobs that leave you without water or without a bathroom for several days do we weigh up the best option with you.
How long does a partial renovation take?
It depends on the scope: painting a home or changing a few windows is usually done in just a few days; a bath-to-shower conversion, around a week; a full bathroom renovation, 2-3 weeks; and a kitchen, between 2 and 6 weeks. In the proposal we give you a realistic timeframe that we keep to during the works.
Is it worth renovating in stages?
Yes, when the budget will not stretch to everything. Renovating in stages lets you do the priorities now and leave the rest for later, without undoing what is already done. The key is planning the right order (services first, then floors and finishes) and having a single lead who sees the full picture from the start. We help you prioritise at the site visit.
When is a partial renovation right for me, and when a full one?
If it is something specific —a bathroom, the floors, the painting— and the rest of the home is sound, go partial. If the problems pile up (a layout that does not work, outdated services, several worn spaces) and fixing them separately costs more, a full renovation usually works out better. At the site visit we advise you frankly, even if the scope turns out smaller than you expected.
Do I need a permit for a partial renovation?
A partial renovation that does not touch structure, layout or façade (painting, changing floors, renovating a bathroom while keeping the layout) is usually handled with a responsible declaration or notice of works, depending on the municipality. If it affects the façade or communal parts of the building, it may call for more paperwork. This is for guidance only: it is best confirmed with the town hall, and we advise you and handle the documentation.
Do you give a fixed quote on partial jobs too?
Yes. After the site visit we give you a fixed quote, itemised in detail, just as with a full renovation. It only changes if you decide to widen the scope or if a hidden surprise appears, and in that case we tell you and agree it with you before carrying on, never out of the blue.
Does the old floor have to be lifted to lay a new one?
Not always. If the existing floor is sound and level, in many cases a laminate or vinyl can be laid over it, saving on rubble and days of works. If it is worn, uneven or you are switching to a different type of flooring, it is best lifted. We assess it at the visit and tell you which option suits your case.
Do you do just one room, or the rest of the home too?
Both. We can renovate just one area —only the kitchen, only the bathroom, only the floors— or, if the job grows, fold it into a full renovation of the whole home. We tell you with the numbers when each option works out better value.
Which areas do you carry out partial renovations in?
In the city of Valencia, La Eliana and every town in the Camp de Túria and l’Horta Nord: Paterna, Bétera, Godella, Llíria, Rocafort, Riba-roja, San Antonio de Benagéber, La Cañada and the surrounding area.
In short
A partial renovation in Valencia renews one area or one specific job —kitchen, bathroom, floors, painting, windows or façade— without touching the rest of the home, under a single lead and with a fixed quote. At Batecs we carry it out with an in-house team, normally without you having to move out, and we help you prioritise if you would rather renovate in stages.
As an indicative market guide: painting a home ≈ €1,500-3,000, changing the floor ≈ €30-70/m², a window ≈ €350-700, a bathroom ≈ €4,000-9,000 and a kitchen ≈ €6,000-15,000. We set the real price for your renovation after the site visit, with no surprises.
